November 2007 saw a revolutionary new video game introduced by MTV, EA Games, and Harmonix. The release of this game revolutionized the video game industry, creating a whole new genre of video games and home entertainment. The original release of RockBand was available for all platforms including the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation3, and Playstation 2 by June of 2008.

The original game is basically the same as the newly released RockBand 2, including a drum set, a guitar and a microphone. The game involves up to four players playing at one time, one on bass guitar, one on electric guitar, one on the drum set, and one singing vocals on the microphone. The object of the game is to play as a virtual band and tour the world playing virtual gigs at different venues in all types of cities. While playing, you are trying to strum or hit notes that are scrolling across the screen, in unison with your bandmates.
The one advantage that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Rockband have, are the inclusion of online play and the ability to download hundreds of songs from the Rockband library. There are over five hundred songs currently available, including full albums from artists such as ACDC, Pearl Jam, and others. Lots of genres are included including alt-country, rock, 60's rock and 70's rock. This is a very versatile and inclusive video game series.
After you have Rockband set up, you can buy extra accessories and peripherals to complement your Rockband experience.
